InterfaceNZ Moves into new Premises

InterfaceNZ had outgrown its current location and needed new premises that were in fit with its SUSTAINABLE DESIGN LEADERSHIP brand positioning. Concurrently operating 4 separate warehouses was unsustainable and the operations needed to be consolidated to ensure we offered excellent customer service and ran as efficiently as possible.

It was June 2007. By July 2007 the new premises were found and the old premises on the market, sold and we had to move out. Then came the building consent drama as we made changes to the layout of the new premises to meet our requirements.

October 2007 we moved in. And the time in between – we just all pitched in and made do.

Utilizing the Office Fitout tool from the Australian Green Building Council (NZ’s fitout tool hadn’t been developed yet) we sought to create a modern, sustainable and fitting environment to both create a place where employees would enjoy coming to work and concurrently showcase our products in their best possible light.

The office was divided into two halves, the working office side, utilizing a flexible work environment structure and a design side where customers can be entertained and see the latest we have to offer.

Charcoal flooring utlising random design, recycled content and low wastage was the key flooring requirement. The rug insert in the ‘lounge can be changed around at will depending on the current flavour of the month.

Net result – a stunning facility worthy of the title Sustainable Design Leadership.
